Seneca Lake Pure Waters Association (SLPWA) needs your input and support. During the past year SLPWA has been active in a number of areas that are important to Seneca Lake and its watershed.
• We’ve commented to the DEC, or local, state and federal representatives regarding drilling for natural gas in the Marcellus Shale and impacts on the water quality of our watershed.
• We’ve provided input to the EPA on their study of Hydraulic fracturing and drinking water quality.
• We’ve represented the interests of the Seneca Lake watershed to Seneca County regarding the application of an aluminum recycling salt cake monofil in the county.
• SLPWA has co-sponsored meetings on Marcellus Shale natural gas drilling and water well testing
• SLPWA has provided funding to the Finger Lakes Institute to develop a watershed educational program for area school districts and for additional water quality testing on Seneca Lake
• We will be co-sponsoring a pharmaceutical collection day this Fall in Geneva and Canandaigua to help reduce the amount of pharmaceuticals that end up in our waters.
• SLPWA is working with the other Finger Lake Watershed Associations to form a regional alliance to give our region’s watersheds a stronger voice.
Please join us for our membership meetings and/or contact us at SLPWA@senecalake.org with your ideas and suggestions.
